It is truly marvelous how our body copes with all the things we throw at it.
We expect it to run a marathon, survive a bungy jump, and take us through a hard day’s work. Then support us during a good night out with friends. Oh, and must not forget, we then expect it to be nice and relaxed and attractive to our partner in a romantic situation.
We hope to go through life with minimal illness and when you get to 70 years old, like me, your mind still wants to behave as though you were 25 years old. All this takes energy in one form or another and we expect our body to deliver, just when we want it.
Well, if that is the case, then we need to ensure we do the right things at the right time. We need to be able to call up our energy reserve as and when required.
“Think of your energy levels like a bank account“.
“A healthy account has a sufficient amount of funds, where more money is deposited than taken out. Run your account into the negatives, however, and you face penalties that drain your account even more. Too many lapses in payments and your account can shut down completely”.
One way of making sure your energy bank balance is healthy is to have a good nights sleep and in this article they give you 10 Simple Tips to help you do this including:
- No electronic devices starting 30 minutes before bedtime.
- Don’t charge your phone next to your bed. Even better: gently escort all devices completely out of your bedroom.
- No caffeine after 2 p.m.
So, start thinking more about managing your energy instead of reacting to the lack of it.
